If ‘Trust’ is said to be a pillar for any relation, then “Understanding” is the other one. Whether it is Dwapara Yuga or Kali Yuga, these characteristics are common. From Sri Krishna to Krishna Devaraya, Krishna Devaraya to today’s relationships, there are so many examples which provide strong base for this.
During early India there were so many customs and traditions in the society. One among those customs was presenting ‘aranam’ (gift) to the newly wedded bride. These vary from non-living things to living beings viz., a common gift was ‘cow’, so that the bride will stay healthy after her married life too (Cow-milk was said to be mother of all foods to any human irrespective of the age). If a common man/family could afford to present a ‘cow’ then what about the King? He owns everything except mental peace.
Krishna Devaraya married to a princess who brought a ‘poet’ as ‘aranam’ with her to the family. His name is ‘Nandi Timmana’ (He was one among the group of 8 famous poets called ‘Astadiggaja’ whos served for King Krishna Devaraya). His duty was to entertain the King with his poems and stanzas. One night, the queen, tired with her work, slept before the King slept (this was said to be insulting king as she failed to do ‘Pati Dharma’). Adding to the vows, the queen’s leg touched the king during the sleep (unintentionally). The furious king, sent the queen to her parents in the next morning. Knowing the situation, the poet ‘Timmana’ thought to teach a lesson to the king in a manner which hurt no one. Then came the context of ‘Parijatapaharanam’. Timmana made the King to read the poem and made him realize the mistake he committed.
So what is about the poem?
This incident happened during ‘Dwapara Yuga’ between Sri Krishna and Satyabhama.
One day Krishna gave a flower(Parijata Pushapam) to his wife Rukmini, one among the 8 wives. Sulking Satyabhama, another wife of Sri Krishna, laying angrily on the bed and waiting for her husband’s attention towards her. Sri Krishna entered the room, sat at the end of the bed and tried to convince her about the situation. Insatiable Satyabhama kicked on the chest of Krishna. Without any anger, by understanding the situation, softly said to his wife that he was so worried. He said that her soft feather like feet might get hurt because of the hair on his chest when she kicked. And then he promised her that he will bring not only a single flower but also a whole tree for her. Satisfied and realized Satyabhama smiled and left the sulking mode.
These things happen in every relation in different ways irrespective of the era. There are so many quibbles often lead to a big destruction in every relation. Petty issues can be minimized if people understand each other. We often laugh at the moments those moments where we cried. The giant issues in the past seems to be so stupid now. These issues can be avoided only one can understand the situation and feelings of others. It is not just Sri Krishna or Krishna Devaraya only faced these kind of situations. Every one face these. Those who can overcome these can have a beautiful life !!
